2018 Chita Rivera Awards set for May 20
The 2018 Chita Rivera Awards are set for Sunday, May 20 at the NYU Skirball Center. The evening will celebrate dance excellence on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in film for the 2017-18 Season. It will include full cast performances from some of the newest Broadway hits. All proceeds will benefit the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation College Scholarship Program as well as its producing partner, American Dance Machine for the 21st Century.
The nominations for the 2nd Annual Chita Rivera Awards were announced on Friday, April 27. See the full list below.
Legendary dancer and actress Carmen de Lavallade, 87, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award while composer John Kander, 91, will receive the Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theater Award.
Special guests like Lea Salonga, Robert Fairchild, Irina Dvorovenko and Tony Yazbeck will attend the Awards on May 20. The Red Carpet Cocktail Party will be at 6 p.m. and the performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. For more information, or to book tickets, visit www.chitariveraawards.com/tickets.
