Ailey dancers present ‘Dance Works Unhinged’

Alvin Ailey American Dance TheaterDancers of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater invite fans and friends to Dance Works Unhinged, a self-produced performance of original works in the intimate surroundings of The Ailey Citigroup Theater on Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 21 at 3 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Ailey Dancers’ Resource Fund, which assists current and former company members with grants for career transition, creative endeavors or emergency loans.

 

Dance Works Unhinged will feature choreography and performances by company members of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Ailey dancers creating works for the special program include Hope Boykin, Sean A. Carmon, Vernard J. Gilmore, Megan Jakel, Yannick Lebrun, Jamar Roberts, Matthew Rushing, Kanji Segawa, Jermaine Terry and Marcus Jarrell Willis.

 

Dance Works Unhinged is a rare opportunity to enjoy the many facets of the Ailey dancers up close at the home of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Joan Weill Center for Dance, which is located at 405 West 55th Street at Ninth Avenue. 

 

General admission tickets are now available for $40 through TuTuTix.com. Advance reservations are recommended. If available, tickets are $45 at the door.
