Bolshoi Ballet in cinemas nationwide

Photo by Damir Yusupov.The Bolshoi Ballet in Russia has returned to screens across the world with its 2016-17 Season Performances of The Golden Age, The Bright Stream and The Nutcracker. Another four performances will be screened between January and April 2017.

 

In addition to the recorded performance of Swan Lake, which will be screened on February 5, three productions will be broadcast live via satellite from Moscow. These live shows include the timeless Sleeping Beauty (on January 22) and the brand-new A Contemporary Evening (on March 19) and A Hero of Our Time (on April 9.)

 

Each production features some of the ballet world’s greatest names, such as Olga Smirnova and Semyon Chudin in The Sleeping Beauty. (Olga Smirnova is the female dancer featured in the photo to the right as well as the trailer below.)
