Choreographer Opportunity with PUSHfest

Open Call for ChoreographersRaissa Simpson’s PUSH Dance Company seeks original, finished pieces of 5-8 minutes in length by emerging and mid-career choreographers to present at its 4th Annual PUSHfest Dance Festival. This year’s festival will take place at ODC Theater, a premier arts venue in San Francisco, on September 22-24.

PUSHfest is a mixed-genre dance festival that features works spanning a variety of performance styles and is open to choreographers working locally, nationally and internationally. From submissions, the PUSH curatorial team will select 14 compelling works to showcase on the big stage in one of two festival programs.

PUSHfest’s growing popularity yielded sold-out and near sold-out audiences for all four performances of the festival in 2016. In addition to the opportunity to connect with large new audiences, the festival provides a platform for choreographers to develop lasting relationships with Bay Area artists and art sector professionals. PUSHfest choreographers also benefit from increased visibility by way of PUSH Dance Company’s widespread promotional campaign.

For more information or to submit your choreography, visit www.pushdance.org/PUSHfest. Note that the application requires a link to a YouTube or Vimeo video of your completed 5-8 minute work. All application inquiries should be directed to info@pushdance.org with the subject line “PUSHfest Application Inquiry.”

The application deadline is Tuesday, February 28. Festival participants will be notified by March 28. Then they’ll be publicly announced on April 11.

There is an application fee of $35. If accepted, choreographers will also have to pay another $35 or $105 by April 11, depending on the length of their work.
