Elizabeth STREB Named 2020 USA Fellow

STREB is pleased to announce that Founder and Artistic Director Elizabeth Streb has been named a 2020 USA Fellow by United States Artists. The award honors Streb’s creative accomplishments and supports her ongoing artistic and professional development. USA Fellowships are awarded to artists at all stages of their careers and from all areas of the country through a rigorous nomination and panel selection process. This year, Streb was among 50 artists chosen from over 500 applicants to receive an unrestricted $50,000 grant.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to have been chosen from among so many extraordinary candidates as a 2020 USA Fellow,” says Streb. “ The support is a timely encouragement and will help provide me with the true gift of increased psychic space and freedom to delve into my artistic process, pursue new design dreams and invent new works of currently unimaginable extreme action. It will help make all that we do at the STREB Lab for Action Mechanics (SLAM) possible, allowing us to continue to investigate, push boundaries and create new possibilities for artistic invention, education and engagement each and every day for every body. This will further extend to the thousands of audience members, students and community organizations who experience our broad range of performance and educational programming, and who are inspired and empowered by their experience.”

Elizabeth Streb’s 2020 USA Fellow award was made possible with support from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
