French Academie of Ballet announces audition

French Academie of Ballet Open Audition August 2016The French Academie of Ballet in New York will host an open audition for entry to its Pre-Professional Training Program on Monday, August 22 at 2:30 pm at Dance Art New York (DANY) Studios.

The Academie’s curriculum is based on the French School of Classical Ballet and stresses precision in technique and elegance in artistry. Dancers accepted into the program are carefully evaluated to insure correct level placement in order to allow them to progress through levels of training that are carefully designed to address their physical, technical and artistic development. This time-tested approach to training young dancers is in the “best interests” of the students and has “proven to produce strong, capable, employable dancers with the ability to adjust easily to different styles of ballet and choreography.”

Founder and Artistic Director François Perron closely supervises every level of the Academie. He is a graduate of the Paris Opera Ballet School and is one of the rare dancers who has performed with all three major ballet companies in New York City– the Joffrey Ballet (before it moved to Chicago), New York City Ballet for six years and briefly with American Ballet Theatre. He developed the Academie’s curriculum based on his own training and experience. In addition, he’s a faculty member of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre, a professor at The Juilliard School, and previously taught as part of the Certificate Program at Peridance Capezio Center.

His students have been accepted to the Paris Opera Ballet School and have been hired by ABT, San Francisco Ballet, Nederland Dans Theatre, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Sarasota Ballet, Carolina Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre and Orlando Ballet.

Advanced dancers who enroll in the Academie’s Pre-Professional Division will attend class six days a week and rehearsals as called. Intermediate dancers are encouraged to take the full schedule of classes but may take advantage of the flexible scheduling option.
