Live stream the 44th Prix de Lausanne

Taylor CiampiThe 44th Prix de Lausanne runs February 1-6 at Beaulieu Theatre in Lausanne, Switzerland. The prestigious international dance competition will include a total of 71 candidates representing 19 nationalities. The cream of the crop, these young dancers were selected out of 300 applicants to participate in the annual weeklong event.

Dance enthusiasts can live stream the event starting on Monday at 4 pm GMT+1. The Prix de Lausanne offers digital access to daily backstage events, allowing dance fans the world over to experience the competition from the inside.

 

Want to know more about the event? After the selections take place on Friday, February 5 in front of a live audience, 20 competitors will be invited to take part in the Finals on Saturday, February 6 in front of a live audience and streamed live online. Seven of these candidates will be awarded a one-year – all expenses paid – scholarship at one of the Prix de Lausanne’s partner schools or companies, among the most prestigious in the world.

 

The jury panel, whose members are among the most celebrated in dance worldwide, will be presided over by Julio Bocca, former American Ballet Theatre Principal and current director of the Ballet Nacional Sodre in Montevideo, Uruguay.

 

While the jury deliberates during the Finals, the audience will enjoy a short performance by former prizewinners and dancers from the organization’s partner institutions. This year, 1994 Prix de Lausanne prizewinner Diana Vishneva will perform choreography by Marco Goecke. Her performance will be streamed live. Two other choreographies will be performed by 12 dancers of The Junior Company of Dutch National Ballet.
