Savion Glover to launch ‘All FuNKD’ Up’ tour

All FuNKD' Up, The ConCert TourCelebrated tap dancer and choreographer Savion Glover will launch the North American Tour of his All FuNKD’ Up, The ConCert on Friday and Saturday, February 23 and 24 at Washington D.C.’s National Theatre. His new show will highlight his mesmerizing interplay of percussive genius as he and his six-piece band and a company of dancers illuminate original grooves and compositions.

 

All FuNKD’ Up will mark the newest innovative expression from Tony Award-winning Glover, known for Broadway’s Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk. Celebrating his 35th year as a performing artist in show business, his other credits include The Tap Dance Kid, Black & Blue, Jelly’s Last Jam, the movie Tap with Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr., Spike Lee’s Bamboozled and Happy Feet and Happy Feet 2, which he choreographed. His choreography for Broadway musical Shuffle Along won awards as well. Today Glover can often be found dancing on stages across the world with jazz musicians like Jack DeJohnette, Roy Haynes and McCoy Tyner.

 

In his hometown of Newark, NJ, Glover holds the honor of being on the Board of Directors at the NJPAC, where he also serves as NJPAC’s Dance Ambassador. Furthermore, Glover established The HooFeRzCLuB School For Tap and Savion Glover Productions in his hometown.
