skinner|kirk premieres two new works

skinner|kirk DANCE ENSEMBLEStarting this week, BodyVox presents the skinner|kirk DANCE ENSEMBLE in a program of exquisite dance artistry based in classical roots. Founded by longtime BodyVox dancers Eric Skinner and Daniel Kirk, the skinner|kirk DANCE ENSEMBLE has become a fixture on BodyVox’s annual performance season in its home of Portland, Oregon.

For the upcoming skinner|kirk show, set for February 11-13 and 18-20, audiences can expect a visually stunning performance showcasing sophisticated dance making through complex choreographic structures. The company’s well-known sense of musicality will harness the facility and line of classically trained dancers. This program will feature the world premiere of two new works, including a collaboration with composer Tim Ribner, and will explore concepts of spirituality and relationships through captivating movement and live original music.

Locally based, skinner|kirk has been guided since 1998 by the artistic vision of founders Eric Skinner and Daniel Kirk. For the ensemble, Skinner and Kirk develop original choreographic projects firmly rooted in the classical but informed by decades performing with modern and contemporary choreographers. skinner|kirk DANCE ENSEMBLE’s work serves to expand the range of aesthetic experiences for company dancers, collaborating artists, and audience members throughout the region.

Shows will be at BodyVox Dance Center at 7:30 pm on February 11-13 and 18-20, and at 2 pm on February 20. For further information, visit bodyvox.com. Tickets start at $25 and are currently on sale.
