Spelman College Department of Dance Performance and Choreography have a weekend of FREE virtual events presented via Zoom and livestreamed on their Department’s Facebook page coming up on November 6 and 7.

 

PROGRAM A — November 6

6-7pm ~ Choreographic Process II showing, directed by Kathleen Wessel, choreographed and presented by Chelsi Lester, Christiana McLeod-Horn, Egypt Noboa & Rochelle Phillips.

 

7-8pm ~ Spelman Dance Theatre concert and talkback, directed by Kathleen Wessel, featuring new works by current students Madison Allen, Kaela Lawrence, Christiana McLeod-Horn, Aquilah Ohemeng & Summer Kai Thomas; Morgan Hawkins (guest artist) & Cici Kelley (faculty); 

 

8-9pm ~ Special SDT alumni showing and talkback, featuring works by Jazmine Dinkins (SC’10), Keri Garrett (CAU’18), Dom Glover (MH’09), Lauren E.J. Hamilton (SC’15) & Munk Foo (MH’15), Tendayi Kuumba (SC’10) and Thulani Vereen (SC’20)

 

Program B — November 7

4-6pm ~ Dance, Community & Social Change panel discussion, featuring Dr. Julie B. Johnson (Spelman), Dr. Ananya Chatterjea (University of Minnesota), Tamara Williams (UNC Charlotte), and Cara Hagan (Appalachian State)

 

6:15-7pm ~ Senior Capstone showing and talkback: Kaylah Smith

 

7-8:30pm ~ Spelman Dance Theatre concert and talkback featuring the above current student choreographers, SDT guest artists and faculty (no alumni)
