Steps Beyond hosts Artists Talk on Friday

Steps Beyond Artists Talk SeriesSteps Beyond continues its Artists Talk Series with “Dance Company or No Dance Company: That is the Question” – a frank discussion with dance company artistic directors on the pros and cons of starting and maintaining a dance company.

The discussion will be hosted this Friday, April 25 at 8 p.m. in the spacious 4th floor studio at Steps on Broadway, located at 2121 Broadway (between 74th and 75th Streets) in NYC.

The speakers, representing various genres of dance, will share their thoughts on this very difficult, demanding and hopefully rewarding enterprise. Following their moderated discussion, they will take questions from the audience. As with all events, the evening will end with a reception for more talk, questions, mingling and meeting the speakers.

The panel of artistic directors includes: Lori Belilove, who has directed the Isadora Duncan Dance Company for over 20 years; choreographer, professor and lecturer Sidra Bell, director of Sidra Bell Dance New York; tapper Andrew Nemr, who co-founded The Tap Legacy Foundation with his mentor Gregory Hines, was a 2012 TED fellow in Edinburgh and is the founder of CPD Plus (Cats Paying Dues); Bradley Shelver, artistic director of Steps Repertory Ensemble, the resident contemporary dance company of Steps; and Ballet Hispanico former principal dancer Nancy Turano, who directs the New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble.
