Universal Ballet Competition set for FL & GA

Ballet Competition in Miramar, FL and Atlanta, GAUniversal Ballet Competition (UBC) is preparing to hold its first 2017 event this month.

“We continue to be amazed by the talent that graces our stages during UBC,” said Director Lissette Lucas. “We are very honored that we get to recognize their talent by awarding scholarships to some of the most prestigious ballet intensive programs in the country.”

UBC will be presented in Miramar, FL on February 17-19 and then Atlanta, GA on May 20 and 21. Upon completing a “strikingly successful” third season event in Miramar, FL last year – where over 30 schools attended and 340 routines were performed – dancers were awarded scholarships to some of the industry’s top companies, like Joffrey Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Alonzo King Lines, Complexions and Sarasota Ballet. Once again, UBC will award scholarships to these top dance organizations and many more for 2017.

This season, UBC judges and master class teachers include Wes Chapman, Iliana Lopez, Elizabeth Olds, Olivier Pardina, Meg Paul and Mel Tomlinson.

“The judges and master class teachers that come to UBC are among the most coveted in the industry and we are very proud to be able to pass this incredible opportunity to learn from these icons to all of our dancers,” said Lucas.

She added, “We look forward to seeing this year’s competitors.”
