Watch Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre online

Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre in Cleopatra, CEONo matter where you are in the world, you can now experience Los Angeles-based Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre. The company will offer a pay-as-you-will, live-streaming video presentation of two performances of Cleopatra, CEO and Really, All About Eve on Thursday, November 6 at 7 p.m. PST through 2ndLineTV.

Dance fans can watch the archival footage of the two works (one from 2009 and another from 2012) from the comfort of their home. Plus, they can chat live with Artistic/Executive Director Heidi Duckler about her process of bringing Cleopatra (of Egypt) and Eve (of the Garden of Eden), both well-known female legends, to life.

In this evening of fantastical dance, Heidi Duckler’s iconic works will cause viewers to reimagine these old female legends and take an intimate look at the women behind the myths.

Cleopatra, CEO was filmed in the opulent L.A. Paul Hastings Tower, former headquarters of ARCO. Cleopatra, CEO interweaves the gender-biased myths and propaganda associated with the icon Cleopatra, or femme fatale of the east, with the male dominant corporate lineage of the oil men of the west. Between the incredible panoramic views of downtown L.A. and Caesar’s acrobatic stunts, this multimedia performance challenges ideas of desire and power.

Really, All About Eve was shot in California at Temple Akiba in Culver City and
Echo Park United Methodist Church in L.A. This feminist retelling of the biblical story of Eve is interestingly set within the sacred spaces of temple and church. The piece reimagines the roles of Eve and the snake, detailing the genesis of original sin. The work is performed to the original live score by Daniel Rosenboom. The cigarette-smoking, lascivious snake is played by Nina McNeely.
