YAGP NYC Finals coming up!

American dancer Austen Acevedo at YAGP 2015 FinalsThe annual New York City Finals for the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) are set for April 22-29. Dedicated to the loving memory of YAGP’s longtime Director of Operations Shelley King, who passed away in August of 2015, the NYC Finals will take place at various venues across the city – with the competition starting at the Jack Skirball Center for the Performing Arts and the final round and gala happening at the historic Howard Gilman Opera House.

 

Every year, thousands of dancers compete at various regional events taking place between August and March in locations across the U.S. and abroad in the hopes of being invited to the YAGP’s prestigious weeklong NYC Finals.

 

2015 YAGP NYC FinalsThe NYC Finals welcome about 1,200 of the world’s most promising dancers to receive in-depth mentoring and significant professional opportunities. The well-known closing night event of the NYC Finals is the Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala, which features the competitors who have exhibited the most potential performing alongside the stars of today’s leading dance companies.

YAGP 2015 Finalist Rio AndersonIf you want to see some of the best competitors in person, plus a slew of impressive dance professionals, there are tickets still available for the Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala performance on Thursday, April 28. However, the Friday, April 29th Gala is sold out.
