Affiliate Programme Insight workshops
Discover the future of ballet education. For young dancers aged eight to 11, their parents/carers, and recreational or private dance teachers, our Insight workshops provide an opportunity to witness our Affiliate programme in action.
For dancers, experience a typical Royal Ballet School Affiliate class led by our expert staff. Parents/carers have the unique opportunity to observe the class and see our innovative training method in action.
For dance teachers, attend a presentation on the Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme, The Royal Ballet School’s ground-breaking programme changing the face of recreational dance. Teachers will learn about the benefits of our holistic training method and gain insight into how Affiliate teachers apply the method in their studios.
Workshop structure
The workshop is approximately 3.5 hours long and is delivered by a Royal Ballet School Affiliate Programme manager or tutor.
The workshop consists of a presentation on the programme and its methodology for teachers, followed by trial classes for students. Please note teachers are welcome to attend without any of their own students, and students may attend without their dance teacher.
Estimated timetable (timings vary based on event location):
30 mins: registration
1 hour: lecture presentation and Q&A
1 hour: class 1 (ages 10-11)
1 hour: class 2 (ages 8-9)
Eligibility
Students: 8-11 years old
Teachers: novice to experienced
Booking
Places are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Book early to avoid disappointment.
Booking closing dates are dependent on location. The closing date for each venue is one month before the event, with confirmation that the event will run three weeks before the event.

Fees
£20 for teachers
£20 per student, accompanied by one parent or carer to observe class.
Please note, teachers must book their own students on to the classes.Â
Teachers can enrol a student in one or both classes (a total of 2 students per teacher). Depending on capacity, it may be possible to increase the number of students teachers may enrol later. We encourage teachers to enrol students as early as possible to aid with the overall planning of the classes.
We encourage you to bring to the workshop students of mixed age (from 8-11 years), abilities and at different stages of progress. This will allow you to see the programme ethos in action and understand how it can benefit all dance students.
