As usual, the troupe is splitting its time between Aspen, Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Thus far, ASFB has presented a special mixed bill in both cities, featuring a world premiere by former Nederlands Dans Theater and Kidd Pivot dancer Bryan Arias, the company premiere of Alexander Ekman’s swift and pulsating Tuplet and the return of Jiri Kylian’s Sleepless

In addition, ASFB has presented the return of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago to Aspen and Pilobolus to Santa Fe. This weekend, on July 28, Pilobolus hits the stage in Aspen.

The company is also working on an encore to this winter’s milestone collaborative project with award-winning pianist Joyce Yang. In collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival & School, ASFB will  present an evening of dance and live music in Aspen on August 10 and 11. Featuring Half/Cut/Split, the new ballet set to the music of Schumann’s Carnaval by the noted Finnish choreographer Jorma Elo, Yang will be on stage the entire evening. Also on the program are master choreographer Jiří Kylián’s Return to a Strange Land set to the music of Leoš Janáček, and Nicolo Fonte’s Where We Left Off with music by Philip Glass. This Joyce Yang collaboration will also be presented in Santa Fe on September 1.

On September 27, ASFB will present India’s acclaimed Nrityagram Dance Ensemble in Santa Fe. Nrityagram will perform Samhära with Chitrasena Dance Company from Sri Lanka. With live instrumentalists and singers, the work will meld together two ancient and elegant dance forms.
