Avant Chamber Ballet Presents “Bach, Brahms & Bartok”

Avant Chamber Ballet starts 2022 with three epic ballets that show the company’s diversity and musicality. Bach, Brahms & Bartok features live music, audience favorites and a world premiere on February 11-12th at 7:30pm at Moody Performance Hall, Dallas TX.
First is George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco. One of Balanchine’s greatest masterpieces, Concerto Barocco is music made visible as two elegant yet dynamic lead ballerinas each depict one of the instrumental soloists in Bach’s virtuosic double violin concerto conducted by Brad Cawyer.
Next is a world premiere by Katie Puder- Bartok Duets with music by composer Bela Bartok – a synthesis of folk music, classicism, and modernism. The duets are part of forty-four short pieces that he composed for two violins, scaling from simple to advanced. The new ballet features seven dancers whose relationships mature and expand as the music becomes more complex and joyous.
Closing the night is Brahms Trio. This famous musical trio will be performed by violinist Lauren Haseltine, pianist Mikhail Berestnev, and horn Kevin Haseltine accompanied by a lavish, romantic production with choreography by Katie Puder and costumes by Ann Boyce.
“It is wonderful to be back in the studio rehearsing such a uniquely Avant-style program,” said Artistic Director Katie Puder. “From Concerto Barocco which is our stylistic roots, to the grand romance of Brahms Trio and finally the excitement of a world premiere with Bartok Duets – this truly represents our identity as a company.”
Avant Chamber Ballet’s mission is to bring exceptional live dance and chamber music together for audiences in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Their ensemble of classically trained dancers presents a diverse repertoire of classical and contemporary works from local choreographers, as well as internationally acclaimed artists.
