Connecticut Dance Alliance presents the State’s 3rd Annual National Dance Day in Sept

Connecticut Dance Alliance (CDA) will present the state’s 3rd Annual National Dance Day on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Webster Walk, located at Blue Back Square in West Hartford, Connecticut. The free outdoor community event will celebrate the joy of dance and showcase the diversity of dance in Connecticut while also encouraging fun and healthy body movement and creative expression. 

The event will feature live performances and workshops from Connecticut dance studios, companies, and independent performing artists. Connecticut Dances – A Visual History, a touring exhibition presented by CDA and the Connecticut Historical Society, will also be on display. 

CT’s National Dance Day continues to grow each year. Bringing in new and returning artists ranging from pre-professional to professional level. Artists come from around the state and showcase different genres.

Performances will be by: Creative Dance Center, Royal Czyr Dance Company, Connecticut Tap Collaborative – CTC, Evjen Academy of Performing Arts, The School of New England Ballet Theatre, MB Dance Theater, Ballet Hartford, Dancentral, CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half Day Program, and Madelynn Brown.

CT’s National Dance Day will feature the following workshops: an Afro Caribbean Workshop by Dejavé Dance Company, a Contemporary/Rep Workshop by Garet & Company, a Capoeira Workshop by Kevin DeShields of Eastern Connecticut Capoeira, and a Scottish Highland Dance Workshop by Elizabeth Cook-Asal of Company N’ Tempo.

Connecticut Dance Alliance, Inc. (CDA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness of dance in all its forms and serving the needs of the statewide dance community. Since 1999, CDA has created and presented numerous events such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Dance – a day celebrating African-American dance traditions, CDA Distinguished Achievement in Dance Awards, Healthy Dancer Seminars and workshops on Planning a College Career in dance.
