Dance/NYC Announces 6/30 & 7/7 Speakers for #ArtistsAreNecessaryWorkers Conversation Series

Dance/NYC moves into its seventh week of hosting a twelve-part Facebook Live Conversation Series with arts workers from across the arts and culture sector. These discussions highlight the importance of the arts ecology, point to current challenges and offer considerations on our way forward as a field. This series is a part of #ArtistsAreNecessaryWorkers, a new online and social media campaign dedicated to the acknowledgement, representation and integration of dance and arts workers into the decision-making processes that will envision the future for New York City post-pandemic. A new triple bill of dance on film

Northern Ballet have teamed up with the Lawrence Batley Theatre to bring you a world-class triple bill of contemporary dance and ballet streamed digitally to your home from Monday 28 September – Sunday 18 October 2020. Locked Down. Locked In. But Living. will feature a Northern Ballet world première choreographed remotely by our Artistic Associate Daniel de Andrade (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas) during lockdown. The triple bill will also feature new works from Studio Wayne McGregor and Gary Clarke Company, all recorded in the empty Lawrence Batley Theatre and screened to ticket holders on their preferred date. Nai-Ni Chen to lead Kinetic Spiral Workshop as part of Peridance’s Online Workshops

Nai-Ni Chen will lead a modern technique workshop as part of Peridance’s online workshops on Wednesday, July 8 and Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 3:00pm-4:30pm ET. The class will feature an emphasis on her unique technique and movement style “Kinetic Spiral.”  Through proper use of breath and energy, her technique centers around the exploration of a wide range of physically challenging, intricate movement ideas that combine the grace, sensibility and strength can be found in Chinese Martial Art and modern dance. Excerpts of dances from her signature works will be taught during the workshop.
