Open Call launches 2016 tour this weekend

Open Call dance competitionThe touring dance competition Open Call continues its mission to promote and inspire today’s competitors, who it believes are “tomorrow’s cast.” Its 2016 regional tour launches this weekend in St. Louis, Missouri, kicking off a 14-city journey.

Open Call seeks to connect dancers to career opportunities in a professional performance atmosphere. It offers unique pathways, such as agent calls, intensives and training programs, for dancers of all ages to “transition from the classroom to the professional working industry.” Its judge panel includes today’s top talent agents, dancers, directors and choreographers.

After being placed in a level (non-competitive, apprentice or company), dancers can enter their routines in a variety of categories, from tap to ballet to hip-hop to musical theatre to lyrical. There’s even divisions like camera-ready, dance crew and improvisation. Dancers may be awarded scholarships.
