Registrations now open for VKIBC 2016

2013 Valentina Kozlova International Ballet CompetitionThe sixth annual Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition (VKIBC) is scheduled for April 25-30 at Symphony Space in New York City. Applications and registrations are now open.


VKIBC welcomes entrants from around the world for its sixth event. Dancers will perform before a distinguished panel of judges for medals, monetary prizes, scholarships and company contracts. As in past events, one day of the competition will be devoted to contemporary dancers and dances.


The competition has confirmed that the 2016 judges will include Andris Liepa, Nina Ananiashvili, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Sergei Soloviev, Charles Jude, Martine Van Hamel, Septime Webre, Ben Stevenson, Tracy Inman, Yuresha Jelko, Radenko Pavlovich, Peter Stark, Olga Smoak and Margo Sappington.


Among the many past entrants who are currently dancing with companies in the U.S. and abroad, often through contracts they were awarded from VKIBC, are: Ji Yong Chae of South Korea, a senior gold medalist in 2011 who’s currently with Boston Ballet; Brooklyn Mack of the USA, a senior silver medalist in 2012 who’s currently with The Washington Ballet; Rina Tanaka of Japan, who received a contract with the Ballet Nacional de Cuba last year; and Young Gyu Choi of South Korea, a senior gold medalist in 2011 who’s currently with the Dutch National Ballet.
