Steps Repertory Ensemble dancers show off own choreography

Steps Repertory Ensemble 2015The Steps Beyond Foundation continues its mission to develop and sustain dance artists and to further cultivate the dance community with another presentation of Ensemble on Ensemble this Saturday, November 14 at 8 p.m. at Steps on Broadway in New York City.


Members of the Steps Repertory Ensemble, led by Artistic Director/Curator Bradley Shelver, will be joined by Steps conservatory students and Steps advanced students for a program of new works created by Ensemble members Terrence Diable, Robert Moore, Brooke Naylor, Eric Ostrand, Or Reitman and Stephanie Salts. Terrence Diable began his dance training at the Harlem School of the Arts and subsequently was awarded the Fellowship Scholarship and the Alvin Ailey Athletic Boy’s Scholarship at the Ailey School. In 2011, he joined The Francesca Harper Project. He recently assisted Matthew Rushing on his commission of Odetta for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.


The next choreographer, Robert Moore, graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Ailey/Fordham Bachelor of Fine Arts program. He has performed and taught in Mexico as part of JUNTOS Collective, and currently performs with Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre.


Florida native Brooke Naylor also attended the Ailey/Fordham program and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She apprenticed with Parsons Dance for the 2014-15 season.


Next, Eric Ostrand was the 2012 recipient of the Gertrude Shurr Award for Excellence in Modern Dance. The Colorado native has performed with the Big Muddy Dance Co. in St. Louis and as a guest with Missouri Ballet Theatre.


Another Ailey School graduate, Or Reitman originally trained and danced in his native Israel before coming to NYC. Since graduation he has performed with Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, Armitage Gone! Dance and Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company.


Lastly, Stephanie Salts trained on scholarship at The Rock School and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. In the Bay area, she danced with Oakland Ballet Co., Mark Foehringer, and others, and just created a new work for the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance.
