Tapestry brings vaudeville classic back

Tapestry Dance CompanySix years after winning the Best Choreography Award from the Austin Critics Table, Tapestry Dance Company’s April Fools is now headed back to the stage!

The encore performances will pull out all the stops to showcase the diverse talent of Tapestry. A vaudeville-style work with special guest Lauryn Gould and The Butter Bean Band, April Fools will run April 26 – May 6 in the 229-seat Rollins Studio Theatre at The Long Center.

Together, Tapestry Artistic Director Acia Gray and former company members choreographed April Fools. It sees each dancer assuming the persona of a vintage variety performer – from the suave song-and-dance man to a baggy-pants clown to leggy chorines.

This high-energy and eccentric presentation runs the gamut of tongue-in-cheek relevance to current events to breathtaking tap dance classics from stage and screen. The classic works of legends like Teddy Hale, Sammy Davis Jr., Eleanor Powell, Jeni LeGon and more will be encased in rhythmic and swingin’ choreography.
