Avant Chamber Ballet Presents Four Nutcracker Productions This Holiday Season
Avant Chamber Ballet announces the company’s holiday productions with four ways to see The Nutcracker – all with live music in Dallas, Fort Worth and Southlake!
“This is a huge expansion for the company with a show for everyone including the youngest audience members who aren’t ready for a full production,” said Artistic Director Katie Puder. “The Nutcracker is a classic holiday tradition that is sure to bring joy and excitement to all ages.”
The first performance of the season is the Nutcracker: Short and Suite with live music to Southlake, Texas presented by Apex Arts League on November 26 at 5pm. The production is a family-friendly shortened version of the holiday classic with the professional dancers of ACB, choreography by Paul Mejia and features pianist Kamilya Akhmetova. Kick off the season with this performance Thanksgiving weekend!
Next is a debut production of ACB – Nutcracker: Short and Suite Tea at Sammons Center for the Arts in Dallas December 1-2 at 2pm and 6pm. This new show is a 45-minute performance followed by a tea party with your child’s favorite characters from the show. The Nutcracker: Short & Suite Tea is an enchanting experience that brings the beloved holiday ballet to life. As the music of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite fills the air performed live by pianist Kamilya Akhmetova, the dancers will transport you to a magical world of sugar plum fairies, candy canes and dancing flowers.
Finally, enjoy the full-length productions of Paul Mejia’s The Nutcracker with Live Orchestra at Moody Performance Hall December 8-10 and The Nutcracker with Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium in Ft Worth December 22-23. This lush, professional production conducted by Brad Cawyer, features the professional dancers of ACB, along with a large children’s cast representing all of DFW from local auditions.
The Fort Worth performances will be the first production of ACB in the city, and the first collaboration with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra sharing the large stage of Will Rogers Auditorium with the dancers. It will also be the first time there has been a performance of The Nutcracker in Fort Worth with a live orchestra since 2007.
This year’s production of Avant Chamber Ballet’s The Nutcracker is sure to be one of the most spectacular performances of the holiday season with a talented cast and crew of professional dancers and musicians, audience members are sure to be captivated from the moment the curtain rises until the final bows.
