Contemporary Dance Wyoming will open the 2024 Dancers’ Workshop Presenting Season

The talented, the passionate, the inspiring…Dancers’ Workshop is pleased to present the summer performance of Jackson Hole’s own Contemporary Dance Wyoming (CDW). Founded and led by Artistic Director Babs Case, CDW is now in its 25th season and represents the pinnacle of expressive and innovative modern dance in Wyoming.

To spark the excitement, the community can enjoy a free sneak peek of CDW’s latest works at their open rehearsals on June 7 in DW Studio 1. This special, intimate event is open to all.

Then, the season will continue with a unique music and movement experience hosted in collaboration with Dancers’ Workshop, composer and musician Basya Schechter, and the Jackson Hole Jewish Community. Join Basya and the professional dancers of Contemporary Dance Wyoming as they take the community through a joyous meditative practice incorporating rhythm and breathwork. This donation-based, single-day event takes place on the evening of June 13 in DW Studio 1.

Contemporary Dance Wyoming will take the stage at the Center Theater on June 21 and 22 in a full-production performance featuring the athleticism and artistry of company members Michaela Ellingson, Sarah Hemphill, Amy Kingwill, Charlotte Landreau, Francesca Romo, and Bailey Walker. LED guest dancers Lauren Edson and Franco Nieto will accompany the recently graduated DW student Avery Taylor. Audiences will appreciate the engaging and thought-provoking choreography from these regional artists, described as “visually stimulating, highly athletic, and exhilarating.”

“It’s an incredible opportunity to be able to perform in our hometown and show our community just how much they mean to us through art,” says Fran Romo, dancer and Associate Artistic Director for CDW, who will be performing a piece featuring original music by composer Sheena Dhamsania. “Our inspiration stems from our environment – from the people who share a smile with us, the seasons that change, and the stories we live each day – this is our love letter to you.”
