Grand Opening of Tap Dance Central!

Susan Hebach, former Director of the American Tap Dance Foundation Youth Program and Tap City Youth Ensemble, is excited to announce the launch of Tap Dance Central Inc., a unique studio serving the tap dance community and celebrating the art of tap dance in New York City. Located at 154 Christopher St. Suite 2B, Tap Dance Central Inc. will carry forward the former educational programming of the American Tap Dance Foundation, which recently closed its doors. Susan Hebach, supported by dedicated teachers, tap artists, and students, will lead the organization as it prepares to start programming in early September 2024.

“We are thrilled to launch Tap Dance Central Inc., a new hub for tap dance education in New York City,” said Susan Hebach, Director of Tap Dance Central Inc. “With a deep commitment to providing an environment where students of all ages can explore, learn, and celebrate the artistry of tap dance. Our goal is to inspire new generations of dancers and enthusiasts while ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in every aspect of our programming. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our space at 154 Christopher St. and embarking on this exciting journey together.”

Tap Dance Central Inc. is committed to: Providing essential space for tap dance and percussive artists to create, rehearse, teach, and perform. Offering a comprehensive educational program that nurtures the growth of tap dance as an art form, honoring its rich history, artistry, and cultural contributions. Providing scholarship support to ensure accessibility for students of all backgrounds. Showcasing tap dancers in performances across NYC and beyond to inspire and educate new generations of audiences. Promoting diversity and equity in all programs and initiatives.
