Inaugural NY International Dance Festival Celebrates Dance from Around the World

NY International Dance Festival will present its first ever performance on November 16th at The Rudolf Nureyev Studio located on the 6th floor of the Ballet Arts Center For Dance (130 W. 56th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues). The event starts at 7 pm, with the house opening at 6:30 pm.

Audience members can look forward to an evening of multicultural dance, music and song.

Artistic Director, Brigid Le Minez (née O’Leary), studied Irish step dance as a child, followed by ballet at Manhattan Ballet School, Joffrey, Staten Island Ballet and American Ballet Theatre’s summer program. As a teenager, she was introduced to character dance and it married Ms. Le Minez’s early interest in traditional folk dance and her ballet training.

Over a year ago, Ms. Le Minez had the idea of presenting a cultural festival that united many different folk and national dances/song from around the world. The goal of NYIDF is to provide performance opportunities to freelance artists of any race, gender identity and body type.

The inaugural event will be a celebration of cultural diversity and will highlight pieces that are well ingrained in dance tradition as well as new choreography. The program will include Flamenco, Argentinian folk, Spanish character dance, Brazilian samba, Irish step, Indian Bharatanatyam, Filipino, West African, Mexican song & dance, French opera and much more. The show culminates in a mesmerizing Hopak dance performance by Ukrainian dance troupe Syzokryli Dance Ensemble that will knock your socks off!

Tickets are $28. Purchase Here. Visit https://nyintdancefestival.com/ to learn more.
