Just released: Ailey Teacher Certification Program
Ailey Dance School is delighted to share some exciting news! The Ailey Teacher Certification: Ailey Horton Technique, Level 1 is now approved by the National Association of Schools of Dance Commission on Accreditation.
Through this new teacher certification program, The Ailey School confirms that successful participants will have received the highest level of authentic training in the Ailey Horton Technique, including a comprehensive understanding of its pedagogy, methodology, progressions, and instruction.
The 32-week Ailey Teacher Certification: Ailey Horton Technique course is divided into three distinct parts or “sections.” Section A begins with an intensive week of in-person experiential learning, which includes a strong emphasis on the development and understanding of the foundational warm-up methodologies of the Ailey Horton Technique. Section B continues the program’s focus on understanding the historical background and early influences that shaped the development of the Ailey Horton Technique. Section C guides participants through a study of “standards-based” teaching and learning methods.
The Ailey Teacher Certification Program: Ailey Horton Technique is offered through a flexible hybrid instructional model designed to fit into participants’ busy lives.
Following the week-long in-person introduction, subsequent weeks support a balance of daily life and intensive study through the Teachable learning platform. Virtual instruction includes a variety of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities such as small group and partner work, assigned videos and readings, lesson planning and applied teaching activities, written assignments, assessments, and discussions.
