Ballet Vero Beach and Riverside Theatre are inviting young dancers ages 6-18 to audition for Nutcracker on the Indian River, our uniquely local reimagining of the holiday classic.
Don't wait; auditions are due Friday, October 9!
This is a special opportunity for young performers to share the stage with Ballet Vero Beach and Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami's professional dancers in a production created especially for our community.
Set in 1919, the year Vero Beach was founded, this Nutcracker takes audiences from New York to Florida and ultimately to the shores of the Indian River Lagoon, where Marie encounters manatees, river otters, land crabs, bougainvillea, and more.
No in-person audition is required. Just prepare a short video based on your child's age:
Ages 6–7: Introduce yourself, tell us why you’d like to be in Nutcracker, then show four poses inspired by Happy, Sad, Angry and Excited.
Ages 8–10: Introduce yourself, tell us why you’d like to participate, then march in place with pointed feet for 16 counts.
Ages 11–18: Introduce yourself, tell us why you’d like to participate, then demonstrate basic ballet barre work, including pliés and tendus.
Then simply complete the online audition form and submit everything by October 9.
There is no fee to audition or participate. Cast members will rehearse beginning October 24 and perform December 10–13 at Riverside Theatre.
