Youth roles for Ballet Arizona’s nationally acclaimed production of The Nutcracker are available to children between the ages of 9-18. Students must be age 9 (by Dec. 1) to 18 or be in The School of Ballet Arizona’s Level 2 or Ballet Theatre of Phoenix Level 2, with the appropriate technique, experience, and meet the height requirements to able to audition. Height requirment is 5’8″ and under. Casting is at the sole discretion of Ballet Arizona artistic staff.
Auditions will be held at Ballet Arizona, located at:
2835 E. Washington Street, Phoenix, AZ 85034 (29th Street and Washington Street)
Please fill out the Registration Form prior to your arrival and turn it in on the day of the audition.
Registration begins one hour prior to scheduled audition time and registration should be finished 30 minutes prior to their audition time.
Registration fee for SBAZ/BTP/ASA students is free of charge. Registration fee is $15 non-affiliated Ballet Arizona students.
Dancers should come dressed in classical ballet attire for the audition:
Girls: Tights, leotard, and ballet shoes (no skirts), hair in a bun. No dangling jewelry.
Boys: Trim fitted t-shirt or leotard, tights or bicycle shorts, ballet shoes, jazz shoes or socks
Auditions will begin at 9:30 a.m. with all boys ages 9–18, or SBAZ/BTP Level 2. SBAZ/BTP Levels 2–4 and ASA Grades 5–6 will audition from 10–10:45 a.m., followed by SBAZ/BTP Levels 5–6 and ASA Grades 7–8 from 10:45–11:30 a.m. SBAZ/BTP Level 7 and up and ASA High School will audition from 11:30 a.m.–12 p.m. Open auditions for girls ages 9–12 will take place from 12–12:30 p.m., followed by open auditions for girls ages 13–18 from 12:30–1 p.m. All auditioning dancers must attend the audition for their age group and should be available to stay for additional time on the day of the auditions.
