San Diego Musical Theatre Audition Notice for Xanadu
On the surface, Xanadu is fun and silly, but at its core is full of heart. The piece cannot be successful if it's making fun of it's self, so we are looking for performers with excellent comic timing and sincerity who understand what it means to be seriously silly and who aren't afraid to make bold, honest choices. We are looking for a company of performers as diverse and magical as the mysteries of Xanadu. Performers of all shapes, sizes, gender identities, and ethnicities are encouraged to submit. ALL ROLES OPEN. NO HOUSING AVAILABLE. NON-UNION.
AUDITION APPOINTMENTS - Monday, January 23 from 6-10pm
If you cannot attend this call but can attend the callback on Monday, January 30 starting at 5pm, please sign up on Casting Manager as a video submission and submit your vocal audition through Casting Manager by the morning of Monday, January 23.
CALLBACK - Monday, January 30 starting at 5pm
Should you be invited to the callback, you will go through a Dance/Movement Call and callback sides which you will be able to find on our website www.sdmt.org or on Casting Manager at least one week prior to the callback. MOST PERFORMERS WILL ROLLER SKATE. Previous skating experience is a plus, but not required. Should you be called back, performers who have skates will be asked to bring them as well as proper pads to the callback.
This roller skating, musical adventure about following your dreams, rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends, Jeff Lynne and John Farrar. Based on the Universal Pictures cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, Xanadu is hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.
