Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company present CrossCurrent

The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, an innovative international touring dance company that has been a leading force Asian American dance experience, will launch its 30th anniversary season at New York Live Arts with CrossCurrent, which highlights Nai-Ni Chen's distinctive experience as a female Asian American Immigrant choreographer creating new works as her journey carries her from a world-touring dancer trained in traditional Chinese culture and aesthetics to an American choreographer making socially relevant work that can resonate with the issues of today. Performances run December 5-7 at 7:30pm and December 8 at 2pm in NYC.

Peter & the Wolf with Isaac Mizrahi

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents Peter & the Wolf with Isaac Mizrahi from December 7-15, 2019 in NYC. Isaac Mizrahi narrates and directs Sergei Prokofiev's charming children's classic. Ensemble Signal (conducted by Oliver Hagen from 12/7-8 and Brad Lubman from 12/13-15) performs the music, and the cast, wearing costumes by Mizrahi, performs choreography by John Heginbotham, bringing the 30-minute story to life for the young and young at heart.

Los Angeles-based company, Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) presents What Remains at The Wende Museum on Thursday, December 12 & Friday, December 13 at 7pm. This is new work created for the Wende Museum garden that focuses on the dual stories of Orpheus and Eurydice as imagined by the poet Ranier Maria Rilke, under surveillance by the Stasi police as depicted in the short story "What Remains" published in German in 1990 by Christa Wolf.

Shanghai Ballet comes to the David H. Koch Theater with it's Grand Swan Lake

Shanghai Ballet comes to the David H. Koch Theater with its internationally prominent and critically acclaimed Grand Swan Lake. With 48 swans on stage, the production was directed and staged by Derek Deane, formerly the Artistic Director of English National Ballet and currently Artistic Director of Shanghai Ballet with his team. The show toured to Netherlands and Belgium from December to January of 2015/16 and August to October 2017 with respectively 26 and 40 successful performances.

All works in the performances will be choreographed by Duncan Lyle and will feature dancers Isadora Loyola, Betsy McBride, Courtney Shealy, Rachel Richardson, Patrick Frenette, Carlos Gonzalez, Cameron McCune and Javier Rivet of American Ballet Theatre.
