NOURISH is a chance to share with Christian dancers, teachers, organisations and companies from across the globe. The OBIE-winning HERE (Kristin Marting, Founding Artistic Director), in partnership with grassroots arts organization LEIMAY, continues its return to safe and socially distanced in-person events with the world premiere of Correspondences, a free, outdoor, performance-based, public art installation in Manhattan’s Astor Place, created by HERE resident artists and multidisciplinary duo Ximena Garnica and Shige Moriya. In Correspondences, performer, observer, machines, natural elements, and the urban square mingle in an entangled poetic microcosm while opening inquiries into animate life and environmental ethics. Running October 1–4, audiences can safely engage with the installation at any time and also witness 35-minute activations performed by members of the LEIMAY Ensemble.

Shining Light is thrilled to announce the premiere weekend of Creations of a Caged Bird Friday September 25th at 7:30pm EST and Sunday September 27th at 4:30pm EST. It will be an innovative collaborative arts project between incarcerated people and professional artists. Incarcerated men and women created works across a variety of artistic genres - dance, poetry, essays, visual art, monologues, songs, and spoken word - and were paired with a professional artist who created a film production of their work.

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) partners with Rambert Dance Company to present the forthcoming real-time, live-stream world premiere performances of Wim Vandekeybus’ Draw From Within. The show will be streamed direct from Rambert’s London studios and performed across time zones for international audiences. The newly commissioned production is currently underway and is being created while adhering to the latest UK health guidelines to ensure the company’s safety. The new work will be broadcast to NYC audiences via Rambert’s new cross-platform web application Rambert Home Studio at 8 pm EST on September 26, 2020. Live performances are also scheduled for audiences in Seoul, South Korea on September 24 and the UK on September 25.

English National Ballet announced its revised plans for Autumn 2020, as the Company’s previously scheduled performances have been cancelled due to the continuing impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic. An exciting new digital season of short works for camera from choreographers including Russell Maliphant, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Yuri Possokhov, Arielle Smith and ENB Associate Choreographer Stina Quagebeur will be created, rehearsed, and performed by Company dancers in English National Ballet’s studios within COVID secure guidelines. This marks the first time Cherkaoui and Smith have created work for ENB’s main Company, and the first time Possokhov has created work for a UK Company.

Buglisi Dance Theatre and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, in partnership with Dance/NYC, present a reimagining of the Table of Silence Project 9/11, an annual free public performance ritual for peace conceived and choreographed in 2011 by Jacqulyn Buglisi, Artistic Director of Buglisi Dance Theatre. The socially-distanced performance will be live streamed from Lincoln Center beginning at 7:55am on Friday, September 11, 2020 and conclude at 8:46am, the time the first tower was hit on 9/11/01, followed by welcome remarks from industry leaders, a new world premiere film featuring dancers from around the world, and the full 2019 Table of Silence Project 9/11.

Initiating Dancewave’s first shift in executive leadership in 25 years, Founder Diane Jacobowitz has officiated her departure from the leading, socially-conscious education nonprofit’s staff, effective in September, 2020. Issuing a statement on Friday August 14th, Jacobowitz introduced Dancewave's new Executive Director, Nicole Touzien, whose tenure will begin in September. A former Director of Education at Dancewave, Nicole has recently worked with renowned NYC nonprofit organizations charged with stewarding open green spaces, promoting youth development and championing arts education.

“Be An #ArtsHero,” an intersectional grassroots campaign to get the U.S. Senate to pass emergency Arts relief, has built a sector-wide coalition calling for Congress to allocate proportionate relief to the Arts & Culture sector, which adds $877 billion in value to the economy annually, provides 4.5% of GDP, and employs 5.1 million Americans. The campaign asks the U.S. Senate to pass $43.85 billion in direct relief to Artists and Arts Institutions, with fair allocation to marginalized communities who are disproportionately impacted: those who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, etc.

Liquidus; a series of live solo dances conceived during New York City's COVID-19 stay-at-home order. Tabula Rasa Dance Theater will livestream these performances on YouTube; Saturday July 25, August 1st, 8th, and 15th at 7pm EST. Four dancers from different communities with distinct experiences navigating COVID-19, two who have tested positive and two who have tested negative, will perform live from their respective homes. These performers have subsisted without support, unemployment benefits, or relief during lockdown.
