Satellite Collective announces its new 2020 initiative Satellite Fellowships

Satellite Collective (Kevin Draper, Artistic Director) is pleased to announce a new initiative of fiscal sponsorships and mentorship programs for artists. Entitled Satellite Fellowships, the initiative is scheduled to launch in March 2020 with the announcement of the first five fellows. Following the initial announcement, Satellite plans to grow the program through a regional, city-wide rollout supported by creative programming with the goal of 25 regional fellowships by late autumn of 2020.The company then plans to expand the program to a national level with an ultimate target of fiscal support for 250 artists by the end of 2021.

Olivier Awards 2020 – cancellation

It is with deep regret that The Society Of London Theatre have announced the cancellation of the Olivier Awards 2020 with Mastercard at the Royal Albert Hall on 5 April. Following the government’s advice on social distancing and the subsequent closing of many theatres and public venues, they no longer feel that it is feasible to host the ceremony that they had planned to deliver.

London Theatre Closures

Following official government advice issued on Monday 16 March, which stipulates that people should avoid public buildings including theatres, SOLT (Society Of London Theatre) and UK Theatre have advised all member venues to close, to help slow the spread of coronavirus. The theatres will remain closed until further notice and will re-open as soon as possible, following government recommendations.

Broadway Theatres will close amid Coronavirus concerns

It’s a sad time for Broadway theatres, who are now temporarily closing beginning 5 PM, March 12, by order of Governor Andrew Cuomo,President of the Broadway League. On April 13th Performances will resume. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that no gatherings of more than 500 people will be allowed, excepting schools, hospitals, mass transit, and nursing homes. That ban will be effective beginning 5 PM, March 13. For gatherings under 500, the seating capacity will be cut in half.
