Announcing STREB Spring Season Lineup – From Podcasts to Action-Packed Shows
The STREB Lab for Action Mechanics, home of the renowned extreme action company, is thrilled to unveil its jam-packed spring season, featuring a diverse range of events and performances that promise to captivate audiences of all ages.
Kicking off the season with a bang, legendary choreographer Elizabeth Streb will be the featured guest on Randy Cohen’s Person, Place, Thing podcast. Happening live at the STREB Lab for Action Mechanics in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, this unique event offers an intimate glimpse into Streb’s unparalleled insights into the art of movement and action architecture. Join us as Streb shares her personal stories and explores unexpected narratives, all while enjoying drinks and mingling with the Action Heroes. Tickets are available now.
The Person, Place, Thing Podcast Live Recording featuring Elizabeth Streb will take place Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 3:00 pm, at STREB Lab for Action Mechanics (SLAM). Tickets are $25 and are available here
Following the podcast recording, STREB EXTREME ACTION returns to SLAM with a season of performances, beginning May 10. Audiences can expect to see the premiere of a new Action Event on STREB’s latest Action Machine, SURF—a thrilling apparatus designed to evoke the power and turbulence of maverick waves. Don’t miss your chance to experience the daring choreography and exhilarating performances that STREB is renowned for.
STREB EXTREME ACTION’s SLAM SHOW runs May 10 – June 2, 2024, Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 5pm, Sundays at 3pm at STREB Lab for Action Mechanics (SLAM). Tickets start at $25 and will be available here.
This year, STREB will honor Annie Philbin, Director of the Hammer Museum, and Lisa Phillips, Director of the New Museum, with their prestigious Action Maverick Award. Join STREB in celebrating these outstanding leaders and brilliant risk-takers– Museum Directors who have established their institutions as two of the world’s top cultural incubators. The evening will feature cocktails, dinner, and a special performance by STREB EXTREME ACTION, with citizen comic Kate Clinton returning as host for the evening.
The Action Maverick Awards take place Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 7:00 pm at STREB Lab for Action Mechanics (SLAM). Benefit Committee contributions begin at $2,500 and are available here. Individual tickets begin at $750 and will be available starting April 17th. More information can be found here
Rounding out the season, STREB’s advanced youth teams, including STREB Kid Company and the España STREB Youth Fly Troupe, will showcase their talents in an evening-length performance. These young performers, aged 8-18, have undergone extensive training and mentorship with STREB teaching artists and company members, and their performances promise to amaze and inspire.
