Beyond Syllabus Online Conference

Beyond Syllabus Online Conference

bbodance is thrilled to host a second Beyond Syllabus online conference for dance teachers this April – open to all, regardless of affiliation to societies and awarding organizations. The conference will be livestreamed from London, but is open to teachers all around the world. Last year’s inaugural “Beyond Syllabus” Conference was a huge success with over 150 participants logging in to hear some inspiring lectures, while Covid restrictions were still in place in many countries. The itinerary offered something for everyone and focused on helping teachers to get through the difficult period.

The event returns in 2022, featuring exciting lectures delivered by inspiring experts. The conference is designed to support teachers to emerge from the pandemic stronger and ready to face issues which may have arisen in the aftermath of such strange times. It will lift the spirits of the teaching community and promote the benefit of professional development. The great variety of subjects for lectures include the mental health and wellbeing of students, life/work balance, creating a motivational climate and positive mindset for students, creative teaching ideas and career pathways and transitions.

Produced by the bbodance team, CEO Julie Bowers says, “We are beyond delighted to be running the conference for a second year. Last year it proved to be a global success, bringing many teachers together for an insightful weekend with incredible speakers discussing thoroughly enjoyable, informative and current topics. It was described by many as communication and engagement sorely needed in such difficult times. We truly cannot wait to see what this years’ conference will deliver.”

The conference is open to everyone: bbodance members, non-members, experienced teachers or those just at the beginning of their careers.

Speakers include Dr. Caz Nahman, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Sport Psychiatrist; Iain MacKay, former principal dancer at Birmingham Royal Ballet; Katy Chambers, Company Physiotherapist for the Royal Ballet Company and Performing Arts Specialist Physiotherapist at Trinity Laban; and Sarah Gittins, founder of The Dance Den.

The Beyond Syllabus online conference will take place from 10 am – 5 pm London time (6 am – 1 pm EST) on April 9 & 10. Cost for non-members begins at $124 for one day or $228 for both days. Click here to learn more.
