Dances Patrelle Announces Student Auditions for “The Yorkville Nutcracker”

Dances Patrelle announces young dancer auditions for The Yorkville Nutcracker on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Ballet Academy East, 1651 Third Avenue, Third Floor, NYC. Courtesy of New York City Ballet, Miriam Miller will join the company as the Sugar Plum Fairy and partnering her will be Tyler Angle.

Dances Patrelle will present The Yorkville Nutcracker from December 14-17, 2023 at the Danny Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, E. 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, NYC.

Francis Patrelle’s Holiday Classic, “The Yorkville Nutcracker,” returns for its 27th Season! Enjoy a magical tour of 1895 New York City with Dances Patrelle. Your journey begins with a Christmas Eve party at Gracie Mansion attended by dignitaries from around the world – including our new police commissioner, Theodore Roosevelt. Thrill as you behold a battle with life-sized mice! Then go for a bracing midnight skate on the ponds of Cental Park. Finally, take a sleigh-ride to the Grand Conservatory of the Bronx Botanical Gardens in time for a beautiful sunrise buffet of sweets, hosted by the Sugar-Plum Fairy. New York City Ballet’s Miriam Miller and Tyler Angle lead the Dances Patrelle cast in this magical and whirlwind seasonal confection, with rich delights for ballet lovers of every age.

All The Yorkville Nutcracker auditions to be held at Ballet Academy East Studios (1651 Third Ave, 3rd Floor, NYC). Dancers should arrive in appropriate dance attire. (For soloist roles, dancers should be prepared to dance en pointe).

Auditions for Dancers Age 10-12 will be on Saturday, 30 September – 5 pm (Registration starts 4 pm) with a parent meeting at 5 pm.

Auditions for Dancers Age 6-7 will be on Sunday, 1 October – 3 pm (Registration starts 2:30 pm) with a parent meeting at 3 pm.

Auditions for Dancers Age 8-9 will be on Sunday, 1 October – 4:30 pm (Registration starts 4 pm) with a parent meeting at 4:30 pm.

Audition for Ages 12+ (Corp and Soloist roles, dancers performing en pointe) will be on Sunday, 1 October – 3 pm (Registration 2:15 pm). Dancers at this level can join Dances Patrelle’s MASTERWORKS for Spring Workshops.

There is a $325 production fee, with a discount for siblings. Limited scholarships are available. Download, complete, print and bring the registration form to audition, available at https://www.dancespatrelle.org/.

Comprehensive rehearsal schedule will be available at audition. All students must be currently enrolled in a ballet school. Weekly rehearsals will begin October 7 for select groups.
