Dancewave Announces Groundbreaking West Coast Expansion of its Signature College and Career Preparatory Event: Dancewave Through College and Beyond

Dancewave, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young dancers and fostering inclusive dance communities, is thrilled to announce the first-ever expansion of its acclaimed program, Dancewave Through College and Beyond. This groundbreaking initiative, taking place September 23rd at New Mexico School for the Arts, is designed to provide comprehensive support and resources for aspiring dancers as they navigate their journey from high school to college and into the professional dance world.

Since its inception in 1995, Dancewave has been at the forefront of dance education, championing excellence, diversity, and innovation. With the expansion of Dancewave Through College and Beyond, seeks to address the unique challenges faced by young dancers during their transition to higher education and professional careers, ensuring their success and fostering their long-term growth regardless of location.

“I am happy and excited to welcome Dancing Through College and Beyond to New Mexico School for the Arts. I believe this expansion will generate a space where young dancers in the West can begin creating the network and connections that will help them through college and their professional careers,” said Fernando Ramos, Co-Chair, Dance Department at New Mexico School for the Arts.

As part of Dancewave’s commitment to accessibility, Dancewave Through College and Beyond will ensure that opportunities are accessible to students from all backgrounds. With its Go Beyond Fund, the organization will provide scholarships and financial aid to a number of students, removing financial barriers and creating equitable access to resources.

“There are already too many barriers in place prohibiting access to the arts and arts education for students across the country. The Go Beyond Fund and the West Coast expansion directly address these inequities and provide opportunities for young hopeful dancers. It is my hope that these initiatives will usher change in the way we support our young artists,” said Shannon Corenthin, Special Events Manager

The 2023 NYC event will take place October 3-8, both virtually and at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn, NY. The event is presented in partnership with Bates Dance Festival and sponsors include the Radio City Rockettes. For more event details and registration information visit dtcb.dancewave.org.
