Forza Dance is reshaping professional development opportunities for dancers

Forza Dance is excited to announce their (Re)Launch! Director Michaella Barron has combined her two companies, Artist After Hours and Forza Dance Company, to create Forza Dance. Forza Dance provides empowering opportunities to research and share their collective purpose as artists through two facets: Community and Company. With free or low cost programming, Forza Community aims to support the artist’s journey, build a dialogue on the “now” and the “next” for the dance industry, and facilitate exchange of these ideas to all ages and experience levels.

Forza Company is a performance-based collective that puts these Community findings to motion. The company intends to inspire a more empathetic society by sharing work with the public. In all events, Forza Dance cultivates a sustainable learning environment that uses feedback to ignite change in both the self and the dance industry.

Following a successful (re)launch party on Sunday, October 2nd, Forza announced their Fall programming. Fall events include PEER. PANEL. PERFORMANCE., their bi-annual Emerging Artists Showcase, free Movement Meditation class with Forza Director, and split bill performances at the Rose Nagelberg Theatre and Gibney Dance.

PEER. PANEL. PERFORMANCE. is a three part workshop that focuses on choreographic development and feedback. Beginning on October 23rd, participants came together with other like minded artists to dance, discuss, and share feedback about each other’s work. On October 30th, participants continued developing their artistic process by receiving feedback on their work from a panel of established industry professionals and choreographers. Those who participated in both workshops will show their work in Forza’s bi-annual Emerging Artists Showcase on November 13th. These sessions are designed to take a choreographer’s work from rough draft to performance ready with support and feedback from other participants, Forza Dance, and established artists!

The Emerging Artists Showcase will take place at 5:00pm on November 13th at the Triskelion Arts Theater. This is their third annual EAS, but first EAS as Forza Dance. They are accepting applications for choreographers to present a work up to 12 minutes in length with a maximum of a 6 artist cast. Choreographers will receive a professionally filmed video of their piece, high resolution images, and audience support from Forza Dance’s community of emerging and established professionals. Discover what’s happening NOW and witness firsthand the ongoing evolution of the dance industry, while supporting emerging artists! Forza Dance’s Emerging Artist Showcase is a night celebrating the work of 10 unique choreographers with raffles, networking, refreshments, and more. The performance is open to the public.

On November 12th at 8:00pm, Forza Dance Company will be performing at Gibney Dance alongside Borne Dance Company. At this free and open to the public performance Forza Director, Michaella Barron, will showcase her new work in progress titled, Memoir #1: Boxes.

Forza’s vision is to build a community of artists passionate about creating a more innovative, transparent and equitable future. Their community understands the weight artists hold in driving cultural change and works to listen, shape, and share all voices. Forza Dance supports artists through constant changes within the industry with the proper resources and guidance. It strives to bridge the gap between different age and experience levels. Both facets of the organization evolve as the dance industry and society changes. They aim to inspire, to actively research, and to welcome all people and ideas… all to develop a more compassionate world!
