Hip Hop & Street & Club Style at Peridance

Peridance Center and the School at Peridance are excited to welcome back Cebo! Cebo is serving as Peridance’s Administrative Assistant Consultant and the School is thrilled to have him working to bring back their iReP student street & club dance company. Over the course of the academic year, Cebo will be working with Peridance’s Hip Hop faculty and may be stopping into classes to observe.

Terry B.J. Carr, professionally known as Cebo, has been a distinguished fixture in the street and club culture for more than 30 years. Cebo is president of New York’s first street club dance companies, Next Generation NYC, LLC (NXGN) / Next Generation New York Studios. From event management to curriculum development, NXGN does it all when it comes to street and club culture. Cebo is also the movement specialist for GoNoodle’s Blazer Fresh, a director of the MopTop Universal Program at Peridance Center, and a member of the world-famous house dance originators Dance Fusion Crew NYC. His love for street club culture and all the things it continues to do for the world continues to drive him to find ways in which he can help enrich the community through music, feeling, and dance!

iReP the Street & Club Dance Crew is dedicated to creating dance specific routines encompassing only styles created in the street and club dance community more famously known as Hip Hop. Peridance strives to give members a safe and inclusive place to advance themselves while assessing the roles they will play in their communities and as a part of the street and club dance community and culture as a whole.

This fall, Cebo will be coordinating iReP workshops for hip hop students ages 8-17 years interested in honing their hip hop techniques, learning choreography, and practicing performance skills. Workshops will be taught by Cebo and special guests, and will take place September 23rd, October 7th, November 18th, and January 13th. Workshops are offered at a special $25.00 drop-in discount. Students are encouraged, but not required, to attend all dates! Click here to register for the workshops.

Participation in iReP is by audition only. Accepted students are required to take one weekly Hip Hop class at the School at Peridance in addition to a weekly rehearsal (rehearsal time, TBA, likely Saturday afternoons). iReP will perform their work at Peridance’s Annual Concert (additional performance opportunities TBA).

iReP’s spring 2024 audition will take place January 27, 2024, and will be open to all School at Peridance Hip Hop students. Students with a passion for performing are highly encouraged to audition! Workshops are open to all children ages 8-17 years (students are not required to be current School at Peridance students).
