Jane Franklin Dance Presents Forty+ Project April 2022
Beginning Tuesday, April 19 and running through May 31, Jane Franklin Dance presents their Forty+ Project. Dancers 40+ years old can explore movement and performance in a creative project.
Forty+ Projects explore movement and performance technique within a creative premise. You will gain invaluable health benefits from exercise including improved strength and physical function. Forty+ meets weekly, in-person at 3700 S Four Mile Run Drive in Arlington, VA.
Each project celebrates the collective creativity of people past the age of 40 and each project is directed by a different choreographer. For spring 2022, they are delighted to welcome choreographer Emily Crews. Emily is known for her work around the DMV as a dancer and lead artist with the percussive ensemble Footworks, for musical theater productions and through Dance Place, a WDC anchor organization for dance.
Jane Franklin Dance partners with music, media, visual artists and community participants. A recipient of the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region Creative Communities Award, Jane has developed innovative and collaborative projects combining dancers with the round wall skateboarding community, a life size kinetic sculpture, the architecture of a specific site, dogs & owners, and interactive live video and sound for numerous public art projects. Jane Franklin is a recipient of the American Association of University Women Elizabeth Campbell Award for the Advancement of the Arts in Arlington, and her video work Four Mile Run Footbridge was selected for PHOTO/VIDEO 13: Juried Mid-Atlantic Exhibition. Jane Franklin Dance has been recognized by Virginia’s Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.
Forty+ classes will run from 11:45 am – 1 pm on Tuesdays, beginning April 19 and ending May 31. This project culminates with performances at Theatre on the Run on June 4, 2022 @ 7:30 pm and June 5, 2022 @ 5 pm. The project is open to people of all physical facilities. No previous performance experience is necessary. Cost of enrollment is $160.
