Maria Caruso’s Bodiography announces its exciting 2023-2024 season

Dive into the world of dance with Maria Caruso’s Bodiography. This season promises unparalleled experiences and a chance to witness the dance community’s relentless pursuit of artistic excellence. Don’t miss out!

This Saturday, November 11, Bodiography will be at Armstrong Junior-Senior High School for M-Train’s Outer-Burgh Tour. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Armstrong County Arts Council, the visionary Maria Caruso brings to life a new full-length ballet. Drawing inspiration from the talents of local luminaries in photography, art, music, and more, this event celebrates the essence of the community. The performance is public and free for all to attend.

On December 8 & 9, Bodiography will perform The Messiah at La Roche University. In tribute to the late president, Sr. Candace Introcaso, Bodiography and La Roche dance majors will perform Maria Caruso’s iconic ballet, The Messiah. This heartwarming tribute will be accompanied by a live orchestra and choir under the direction of Thomas Octave, setting the stage for a memorable performance. The community takes pride in remembering Sr. Introcaso on what would have been her 70th Birthday. The ballet acts as a testament to her memory and is free for the public.

Celebrate Lunar New Year with Bodigraphy on February 4, 2023 with a Fair and Gala at the Carnegie Museum. As the world celebrates the Lunar New Year, Bodiography will light up the Hall of Architecture at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History with stunning performances of Caruso’s Given and Midnight Air. Co-sponsored by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology.

Showcasing the talents of tomorrow, Bodiography’s Student Company and La Roche University Dance Majors will enchant audiences with a medley of classical and contemporary pieces choreographed by Kirstie Corso, Isaac Ray, and a variety of guests. The performance will be on March 23 at Kelly-Strayhorn Theater.

From April 12-14, 2024, Bodiography will perform Visions at Kelly-Strayhorn Theater. Bodiography begins a new chapter under the artistic direction of Lauren Suflita Skrabalak. This transformative period will see a mix of cherished classics created by Maria Caruso, and fresh re- stagings including Skrabalak’s 20-year-old pointe work, Synthesis. The season promises a riveting finish with a premiere work by Principal Artist, Isaac Ray, offering a deep dive into creative life through a queer perspective.

Celebrating a year of hard work and artistic growth, students of the Bodiography Center for Movement will proudly display their mastery in a myriad of dance forms. Performances will be June 15 & 16, 2024 at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater.
