UK’s Tap Attack breaks GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Largest Tap Dance Lesson

On Sunday 12th March 2023 at Move It, Excel Centre, London, the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest tap dance lesson was set by Tap Attack with 554 participants.

The class was taught by Jo and Kai Scanlan to 554 dancers from all over the UK with some attendees even travelling from Spain and Germany to help make tap dance history.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS official adjudicator Pravin Patel and independent expert adjudicator Adam Garcia ensured all criteria were met during a structured 30-minute class culminating in a 3-minute routine which had to be completed by all attendees at the same time.

Tap Attack made the attempt as part of their 15th anniversary celebrations and Kai Scanlan said, “It was the best vibe he’s ever experienced in a class.”

The previous record was set at 445 dancers in 2018 but after a nervous wait for Patel to confirm with Garcia and stewards that all requirements were fulfilled it was confirmed that Tap Attack had successfully broken the record with 554 dancers, almost 25% more than the existing record.
