ADF hosts Winter Intensives in CA and NY

American Dance Festival hosts Winter IntensivesWhether you are on the East or West Coast, you won’t have to travel too far this year to participate in a Winter Intensive offered by the American Dance Festival (ADF.) While ADF has been offering its New York City Intensive for a while, this year will be the first time its held one in California.

ADF will launch its brand new West Coast Winter Intensive in the sunny city of Pasadena from December 27-31. It will be held at ARC Pasadena and will include five incredible days of classes, open rehearsals, panel discussions and more.

ADF faculty members Rodger Belman, Leah Cox, Rafael Lopez-Barrantes and Stuart Singer will lead classes in technique, composition, improvisation, voice and gesture, and Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company repertory. The intensive includes an open rehearsal with BodyTraffic as well as a panel discussion delving into the differences between the West Coast and East Coast dance scenes.

The New York intensive will be held December 27-January 4, 2015. If you’ve ever considered making NYC your home, this is a wonderful opportunity to try it out while simultaneously growing as a dancer.

The ADF Winter Intensive in NYC will offer nine days of classes, panels, performances and more. Participants will have the opportunity to study with outstanding teachers, learn in a supportive environment that offers individualized attention, hear about the NY dance scene from the artists who are currently in it and see open rehearsals and performances from an insider’s perspective.

The best part? This year’s NYC intensive faculty includes: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director Robert Battle; Elizabeth Corbett, a charter member of Forsythe’s Frankfurt company; Bessie Award winner Ishmael Houston-Jones; 2010 Guggenheim Choreography Fellow Miguel Gutierrez; and many more renowned choreographers.
