Anabella Lenzu DanceDrama Lab Workshops

Anabella Lenzu leads dance workshopArgentinean dancer and choreographer Anabella Lenzu is offering small and personalized DanceDrama Laboratory Workshops this summer in NYC. A wonderful opportunity for dancers to expand their craft, technique and creativity in an exclusive, tailored program, the workshops will help develop participants’ potential in their dance and theater performance skills.

Lenzu, who has over 20 years of professional experience working in Argentina, Chile, Italy and the U.S., draws on her diverse background to create thought-provoking and socially conscious dance-theatre workshops. Pulling from ideas shared in her book Unveiling Motion and Emotion on the importance of dance, community, choreography and dance pedagogy, she’ll orchestrate workshops that cover various topics.

In May and June, she has already taught workshops on voice/acting, dance technique and her and Daniel Pettrow’s repertory. In July, she will offer two labs, one on choreography and improvisation and another on the methodology of teaching dance.

The first July Lab will be offered on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. – July 5, 12, 19 and 26. Along with Lauren Ohmer, Lenzu will help students create their own passionate and original dances, exploring the elements of choreography/composition. The workshop will look not only at what you dance, but also ask the question “Why do you dance?”

The second July Lab will be offered in one four-day period – Monday-Thursday, July 7-10 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. It will present methodological tools of analysis about how to teach and how to organize and create a teaching plan. Participants will learn how to solve educational problems within specialized pedagogies.

Every DanceDrama Laboratory Workshop has a limit of 10 students. To apply, send resume to info@AnabellaLenzu.com and designate which month you are interested in. The cost of each workshop is $280 per person. This includes four sessions (four hours each for 16 hours total.) For more information, visit www.anabellalenzu.com.
