Auditions for The School at Jacob’s Pillow

The School at Jacob’s Pillow will host its first New York City master class auditions for this summer’s programs on Saturday, January 19 for the Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance program and Sunday, January 20 for the Contemporary program.

The School at Jacob’s Pillow, which now hosts four renowned summer dance programs lead by prestigious dance artists and guest facilitators every year, seeks to give students that extra edge to work successfully as artists. Bringing in world-class instructors and professionals to lead rigorous and intimate classes, The School at Jacob’s Pillow has allowed hundreds of students to hone their art and cultivate career-enriching relationships in the rural, beautiful Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts.

Every year hundreds of dancers from around the world audition in person and through digital applications in the hopes of participating in one of the four prestigious programs.

On Saturday, January 19, dancers age 16 and up can audition for The School at Jacob’s Pillow’s Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance program. With registration from 11-11:45 a.m. and the audition lasting from 12-3 p.m., dancers can expect the audition to include a dance portion led by Emanuel Abruzzo of WALKERDANCE and a vocal portion led by Andy Gale of Les Miserables. The audition will be held at Riplay-Grier Studios located at 520 Eighth Avenue (between 36th and 37th Streets) on 16th Floor in New York City.

Two more chances to audition for this program in New York City will be on Saturday, February 16 and Saturday, March 24. Auditions will also be held in Chicago, IL on Monday, February 4 and Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, March 16.

On Sunday, January 20, dancers age 16 and up can audition for The School at Jacob’s Pillow’s esteemed Contemporary program. With registration from 4-4:45 p.m. and the audition lasting from 5-7 p.m., dancers will be led through a series of warm-ups and combinations by Program Director and world renowned master teacher Milton Myers. The audition will be held at The Ailey Studios located 405 W. 55th Street at 9th Avenue in New York City.

Likewise, two more chances to audition for this program in New York City will be on Sunday, February 17 and Saturday, March 23. Auditions will also be held in Chicago, IL on Sunday, February 3, in Miami, FL on Sunday, February 24, and Long Beach, CA on Sunday, March 17.

Also, an international audition for both these programs will be offered March 4-8 in Paris, France.
