BDC presents Creative Composition Workshop

Broadway Dance Center offers a 2014 Creative Composition WorkshopBroadway Dance Center (BDC) in New York has announced a new workshop coming to the studios on September 13-14: the Creative Composition Workshop!

Dancers are invited to join three of BDC’s renowned faculty members – Ginger Cox (artistic director of LiNK! the movement dance company), Derek Mitchell (jazz choreographer for So You Think You Can Dance Ukraine) and Kristin Sudeikis (artistic director of Kristin Sudeikis Dance) – as they help dancers discover new ways to bring their ideas to life in a positive and supportive environment.

Workshop participants will explore compositional elements, from the development of a movement phrase to the technical elements of staging a piece, in this two-day workshop.

In addition to classes, this workshop will include: a panel discussion with working choreographers; a seminar with Lighting Designer Rebecca Marzalek; and a showing at the end of the two days.

Dancers will also be invited to participate in an informal showing to be held in BDC’s Studio A on Sunday, October 19 at 6-9 p.m.

This workshop welcomes advanced beginner dancers, teachers and choreographers aged 21 and up with an open mind and the willingness to contribute ideas. No prepared material is required.
