Broadway Underground announces spin-off
Tap icon Jared Grimes and the Broadway Underground house band will bring top-notch live music and dancing once again to New York’s B.B. King Blues Club, located in the heart of Times Square near Penn Station and Port Authority.
Set for Monday, September 8, Broadway Underground: The Remix is a spin-off of the original stage show featuring an extended version of the famous “open session.” Audience members can share their talent on the stage and dance floor as Grimes and the house band facilitate and show off their skills as well.
Grimes, the 2014 Astaire Award winner for Outstanding Male Performer in a Broadway Show, is known for his work on the commercial scene as well as Broadway. A designated Capezio Athlete and beloved teacher, he recently finished starring in After Midnight on Broadway and has previously shared the stage with legends such as Wynton Marsalis, Gregory Hines and Mariah Carey. He has also performed for President Barack Obama and Ted Kennedy at the Kennedy Center.
This young and vibrant additive in the world of the arts will once again make his mark by hosting this stellar open mic session, inviting any and all artists to sign up to perform.
Attendees who think they might perform should bring their I-pods, CDs, tap shoes, instruments, sheet music and anything else they’ll need. Acts are limited to the first 30 performers who sign-up. All performances must be under three minutes.
With doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show set for 8 p.m., Broadway Underground: The Remix is an event not to be missed! Tickets are $14 in advance and $18 on the day of the show. To book tickets now, visit www.eventbrite.com.
