Celebrity CREATE Champion presents show

The Celebrity CREATE Competition brought some of the country’s best talent and most innovative choreography together for one night of live performances in 2012 at the Tempe Center for the Arts.

There were 115 choreographers who submitted their work in the hopes of becoming the first ever Celebrity CREATE Champion and a final eight were selected to dance in the live show. Talia Favia proved victorious as the winner of the Celebrity CREATE Competition, earning $5000 in cash, a prize package from Capezio and a customized, live performance at the Tempe Center for the Arts.

This year, Favia returned to her home state, Arizona, in order to put together her live performance The Difference Between Sinking & Drowning, which was presented last month.

The Difference Between Sinking & Drowning, which sold out, was an amazing success. The show is about the universe testing humans by providing challenges and choices to ones self. This lifelong battle provides infinite options for one to take but The Difference Between focused on what happens when a heart dives head first down a particular path then finds itself submerges in an endless sea, left with only two options. The choice is whether to sink for a moment and then continue to fight your way back to the surface, taking on the next task, or drown in the mental mindset of being a victim of the universe. With Favia’s incredible background in the dance industry, this performance kept the audience on the edge of their seats the entire show.

“I was so impressed with Talia, the show and her dancers. It was wonderful to watch her world come to life,” says Drew Phillip, director of Celebrity Dance Competitions. “Her work at CREATE amazed and her show refreshed us. It was a dream.”

Her background in the industry includes behind-the-scenes work on SYTYCD assisting some of the industry’s top names in the business. Favia enjoys traveling throughout the United States and abroad to teach and choreograph.

On March 8, her live performance created an unforgettable experience. Phillip and other officials are excited to see what Favia does next. Celebrity Dance Competitions, Capezio and the Friends of Tempe Center for the Arts said they were very proud to be a part of her journey.
