Groove looks ahead to 2014-15 season

Groove Dance Competitions and ConventionsGroove is one of the fastest-growing dance competition and convention series in the nation! Led by Artistic Director Daniel DeFranco, Groove offers dancers high-energy regional competitions and conventions, in-studio workshops and national competitions.

DeFranco said, “Here at Groove, we strive to provide a fun-filled, professional and personable environment for dancers to come together and share their passion for the art of dance. We pride ourselves on working with an array of knowledgeable dance professionals whose experience and passion shine through in their master classes and video critiques.”

Groove’s vision is to “create a positive, fun and memorable experience for dancers, instructors and families alike and to have all participants challenged and inspired by one another.”

Currently hosting the National Finals for the 2013-14 season in New Jersey, Groove is preparing to wrap up its year and is looking to what’s next. For the 2014-15 season, Groove will present a smorgasbord of events – five fall conventions, 23 regional competitions and two national finals!

The one-day fall conventions will begin in October and will visit five East Coast cities – Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Mahwah, Randolph and Annapolis. Groove Conventions focus on small class sizes, a personal experience and individual student education. Each convention will host multiple age levels, five classes and an amazing faculty.

The regional competitions will kick off in Voorhees, NJ on February 13-15, 2015. Regional competitions will also be held in: East Haven, CT; Long Island, NY; Atlanta, GA; Andover, MA; Tampa, FL; Indianapolis, IN; Millstone, NJ; Lancaster, PA; Westbrook, ME; Washington, IL; Toledo, OH; Houston, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; Milwaukee, WI; Utica, NY; Mahahawkin, NJ; and cities in North Carolina and California yet to be determined.

In addition to offering dancers helpful feedback and critiques on their competition routines, these regional competitions will also present free master classes and over $75,000 in cash prizes and scholarships.

Groove’s 2014-15 season will conclude with two national finals, one in Ocean City, MD on July 7-9, 2015, and another in Atlantic City, NJ on July 13-17, 2015.

“We aim to provide interactive, innovative and genuine events for all dancers to learn, grow and share their talents,” DeFranco summarized.
